I met Jack years ago when I was waitressing my way through university. At first, I really disliked serving him because he was very picky and difficult to serve. Over time, I got to know him better and he became one of my regular customers and I looked forward to him coming in. We would talk and he would tell me how he wanted a pet and to move, but thought he was too busy to give either his time and attention. I finished university and got a job in my field and I saw Jack less frequently. My husband Brian would call him when something needed fixed or replaced and Jack would immediately come over. He would always stay for a meal, he loved to eat and Brian loves to cook and we would talk. He loved a joke and had the most infectious laugh. He was always kind to my son and always took the time to talk to him and throw the ball with him. I always laughed when he called, he would ask for Brian and if Brian wasn't home, he would ALWAYS say, "This is Jack from JDK," and I would laugh and say, "Jack, I know that it is you, " and he would give that unmistakable laugh. I am sincerely sorry that we did not know that Jack was John David as I would really have liked to have paid my respects. Jack was a good, kind, hardworking man and the world seems a little darker to know that I will not hear that laugh again. I am sorry for your loss and you are in thoughts and prayers.

Jack and I met 15 years ago at a restaurant I managed and he frequented. All the staff took a liking to Jack. He was a very hard worker leaving his house at 6a.m and often coming in for dinner at 9 p.m. You could always count on Jack. All these years I've only known him as Jack, I wish I knew his name was John David, I would have sincerely liked to have attended the funeral and give my condolences to his family. He often spoke of his family in Ottawa.

Just read in the Eganville Leader about your loss. My sincerest condolences. I went to school with Jack at St. James in Eganville. We used to throw the football after school waiting for Jack's bus. Jack could really throw a ball, very strong but a very gentle person. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Jack was a good friend.
1960-63 doesn't seem so long ago. Rest in peace my friend.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Our condolences to the family. John was a good friend of my husband and I. We spent many evenings together out and about in Hamilton. Over the years we lost touch but he was often in our thoughts.
