Obituary of William (Bill) Barber

BARBER, William (Bill) At his niece’s residence in Burlington on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 with family by his side, Bill succumbed to his brief yet valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba in 1928. Predeceased by parents John and Minnie, brothers Roy and Harry Barber, step sister Vera, step brothers Vick and Albert Wintonyk. Bill was also predeceased by his long time partner Jim McMullen. He will be sadly missed by sister-in-law Kay Barber and his many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be deeply missed by niece Cathie Hall. Bill was a 25 year manager for Loblaws in the Hamilton area. His family would like to thank all his doctors, nurses, CCAC and Red Cross workers for their kindness. A special thanks to his St. Elizabeth palliative nurses Jane and Nancy and hospice volunteers Dee, Debbie and Mary for their compassionate care and family support. Friends will be received at the DONALD V. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Saturday, July 25th from 11 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
