Obituary of Wasile Rubanetz (Willi)

RUBANETZ, Wasile (Willi) Peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Margarete (Gretl) of 56 years. Wonderful Papa to Daria (Rick) and Brigitte. Wasile was born in the Ukraine on September 28, 1924 to Isidor and Eufrosina. He was pre- deceased by his parents and his younger brother Tanasi and sister Maria. In addition to providing for his family, he enjoyed many outdoor activities such as fishing, picnics, hikes and other outings. He was a long time member of several seniors clubs in the area, which he enjoyed participating in many card tournaments. Wasile's passion in his retirement years was his garden. His diligent labour of love produced a harvest of succulent fruits, vegetables and herbs enjoyed by family and friends. Wasile will be an inspiration to his family and friends and will be cherished and missed for many years. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the DONALD V. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Lake Avenue Dr., Stoney Creek on Friday, September 11 from 12 noon until the time of Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Mountview Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Wildlife Federation or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
