Obituary of Donald Glenwood Spencer
SPENCER, Donald Glenwood (Rusty/RoadRunner)
1929-2009
Peacefully passed away on June 7, 2009, in his 81st year at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital with his daughters and a dear friend by his side.
Predeceased by his mother Beatrice Calhoun, father Glenwood Spencer and brother Raymond Spencer of New Brunswick.
Don is survived by the love of his life Mary Joan (nee Sansom) celebrating a marriage of 60 years, his two daughters Joan Wills and Karen Spencer (Robert Aitchison), two Grandchildren, Sarah Meharg and Lesley (Brad Bomberry) and the pride of his life his wonderful Great-Grandchildren Bradlee, Emma, Jakob and Peyton. Don will also be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews and many good friends.
Don was the eldest of 5 boys; Raymond, Eldon and Scott from Hamilton and Arnold of New Brunswick. Being a retired employee of Stelco ,1952-1988, Don was a loving father, husband, grandfather, generous friend and neighbour, always offering a hand and many words of advice. Don’s laughter and sense of humour will be missed by many. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held, Monday, June 15, 2009 at Trinity United Church, 100 Main St. W., Grimsby, Ontario. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 1 p.m. Service and luncheon to follow.
