Obituary of Valerie Joyce Landry

Surrounded by her loving family Valerie Joyce Landry took her final breaths on September 2, 2023. She will be forever missed and remembered by her devoted husband Bob Landry, her precious daughters Stacey (Danny) and Robyn (Adam) and her 2 bonus children Paula (Warren) and Rob (Sandy). Valerie’s pride and joy were her 5 grandsons Jacob, Aiden, Felix, Wilfred and Tanyon. Her siblings Brian, Carol and Bob considered her to be the backbone of the family. Predeceased by her mother Alexina, father Fred, stepmother Bea and brother Rick. She will be missed by many including her nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law, extended family and many, many friends.

Originally from Kingston Ontario Valerie’s family moved to Stoney Creek when she was in her teens. She worked at “The Avenue” as a shampoo girl. This inspired her to become a hairdresser, and in 1974 she purchased the hair salon with her good friend Doris MacQueen. Together they successfully ran the salon until 2011. Valerie retired from hairdressing in 2016. Valerie loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was one of a kind, who had a way of making others feel special. Valerie left a beautiful impression wherever she went with her big blue eyes, her kind heart and her contagious laugh. When they say heaven gained an angel it is true because that is what Valerie was. 

The family would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the team of doctors, nurses and many support workers for the wonderful care she received during her stay at Juravinski Hospital. You all made her final days comfortable and peaceful. Our family is truly grateful. 

Visitors will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home 36, Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Friday, September 8 from 4-8 pm. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Church of Our Savior the Redeemer, 25 Lake Avenue South, Stoney Creek at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Juravinski Hospital.
