Obituary of Joe Isao Machida
The title of “World’s Greatest Fisherman” is now up for grabs. With great sadness, we announce the passing of Joe on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 in his 84th year. Joe was the loving husband to Kathie for 49 years, and best father to Rhoda (Keith) and Ron (Tara). Wesley and Lucy were loved beyond measure by their grandpa Joe, and he could always be found on the sidelines to cheer them on at every game. Joe worked for the City of Hamilton for over 30 years in the Treasury Department, and also dedicated his time to his many passions. He had a love for fishing and spent countless days along the Saugeen River, Grand River, and Second Bridge in Geraldton. Woodworking also brought Joe great joy. He made beautiful canes and walking sticks that he sold in abundance each year at the Winona Peach Festival. Joe loved to garden, watch the Blue Jays, spend time at Sackville Senior’s Centre, and “go for a drive”. But more than anything else, Joe loved family. He had the best smile and laugh and will be missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephew, friends, and neighbours. Special thank you to the staff at Arbour Creek for their kindness and compassion. Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory to the Alzheimer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
