Obituary of Edna Audrey McEdwards
(nee Cowin)
It is with great sadness that we are announcing the passing of our beloved mother Edna Audrey McEdwards at her home in Ancaster on August 20, 2024 in her 103rd year. She was the deeply loved wife of James McEdwards, mother to Russell, Shirlee and Joanne, grandmother to 6 and great-grandmother to 3. Sister to 6 and great aunt to many.
She was a wonderful woman who was always there when we needed her, always offering her love, wisdom and support. She will be sorely missed by those whose lives she touched and there were many.
She was born in Hamilton Ontario on November 21, 1921. She graduated from Teacher’s College and taught until she had her first child at 28. She was happily married to James Arthur McEdwards for 60 years until his passing at the age of 86. Both were long time active members of the First Pilgrim United Church where they were involved in many charitable events. The joy she brought and the happiness she gave can never be replaced or forgotten.
Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday, August 25th between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Funeral Service will take place at the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 26th at 10 a.m. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
