Obituary of Elwood Laidman
LAIDMAN, Elwood
Peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital, on Wednesday, November 17, 2010, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of the late Betty (Kinsman). Dearly loved father of Larry (Agnes), Lloyd (Elle), Valerie (Michael Haslam) and the late Noreen (1984). Grandpa will be missed by his loving grandchildren; Holly Laidman (Jens), Brandon (Laura), Steven, Ryan and Brent. Grandpa will also be missed by his great-granddaughter Nicole. Dear brother of Lenora (Ron Young) and brother-in-law of Jack (Marion) Kinsman, Joan (Ted Shelley), and the late Richard (Dorothy) Kinsman. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Elwood cherished his friendship with Pat Echlin and treasured his friendship with Lorne and Lois Mitchell. Elwood was born on the family farm where he resided his whole life. Elwood and Betty founded and operated the family business “Elwood Laidman Plumbing and Heating “since 1954. Elwood was a long time and dedicated member of Binbrook United Church having served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years, was a member of Session and a member of the Contemporary Worship Team. He was an avid Antique Collector and was a member of the Glanbrook Heritage Society. Elwood was also Past V.P. of the Ontario Ground Water Association. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Binbrook United Church on Monday, November 22nd at 11 a.m. Interment Auld Kirk Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Binbrook United Church would be appreciated by the family.
