Obituary of Jennie Majka

MAJKA, Jennie It is with great sadness, that after a long, courageous battle with cancer, the family announces the passing of Jennie Majka, on Thursday, July 17, 2008. Beloved wife of 51 years to Steve Majka. Dear mother of Janina and Frank Pinon, Nancy and Gary Lowes and Cecilia and Sean Nugent. Loving Babcia to Allison and Laura Pinon and Graeme, Carleen and Evan Nugent. Sister of Stella Poremba, Helen Szwedo and Eugene (Riki) Peycha. Sister-in-law of Mary Peycha, Stefanie Peycha and Louise Peycha. Predeceased by brother Victor, Chester and Wallace Peycha. Jennie was a member of the Catholic Women's League for 51 years, most recently at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Elfrida. She was the past parish activities convenor and recently received a service award for her many years of parish work. Jennie was also a member of the Rosedale Bridge Club. She will be missed for her sense of humour and her colourful jokes by her family and friends. Friends will be received at the DONALD V. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Lake Ave Dr., Stoney Creek on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil for Jenni will be on Sunday at 3:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CHURCH, 63 Regional Road 20 (Elfrida), Stoney Creek on Monday, July 21 at 10:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. If so desired, memorial donations to the Cancer Care Assistance Program, 569 Concession Street, Hamilton, L8V 1B2, Our Lady of the Assumption Parish building fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
