Obituary of Steve Majka

MAJKA, Steve It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Steve Majka, on Monday, May 2, 2011. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jennie in July of 2008. Dear father of Janina and Frank Pinon, Nancy and Gary Lowes and Cecilia and Sean Nugent. Loving Dziadzia to Allison and Laura Pinon and Graeme, Carleen and Evan Nugent. Brother-in-law of Stella Poremba, Helen Szwedo and Eugene (Riki) Peycha, Mary Peycha, Stefanie Peycha and Louise Peycha and affectionately known as “Papa Majka” by the Debicki and Rogers family. Steve was a graduate of McMaster University where he played football for the McMaster Maurauders. He became a Chartered Accountant in 1962 and had his own practise until his retirement. In retirement, Steve enjoyed watching all types of sporting events, playing golf and tending to his garlic while smoking his cigars. Steve will be missed by his family and many close friends. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Vigil for Steve at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CHURCH, 63 Regional Road 20 (Elfrida), Stoney Creek on Friday, May 6, 2011 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. If so desired, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Our Lady of the Assumption Parish building fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
