Obituary of Nan McDonald
McDONALD, Nan
On Thursday, August 28, 2008 Nan passed away peacefully at the Carpenter Hospice in Burlington at the age of 75. She will now be reunited with her loving husband Jimmy and daughter Lorraine. Nan will be dearly missed by her son Ian (Linda) who cherished her company. Gran Nan will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Matthew, Sarah and Graeme, Colin and their father David Plouffe. Special thanks to her niece Iris and Hamish of Scotland who have shown incredible compassion and support by crossing the ocean several times to be by her side. Nan will be missed by many nursing colleagues from Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital where she spent two decades of her working career. Family and friends from Scotland and Canada have truly lost a special lady who always had a smile on her face. The family would like to extend an enormous thank you to all of the nurses, PSWs and volunteers of the Carpenter Hospice, your caring and compassion over the past several weeks made us feel like we were part of your extended family and turned what was a very difficult time into one where we could visit in peace and tranquility. The family has planned a private funeral and cremation service to be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home in Stoney Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Carpenter Hospice or the Joseph Brant Memorial Foundation would be appreciated by the family. In tears we saw you sinking We watched you fade away. Our hearts were almost broken You fought so hard to stay. God saw you getting weary So He did what He thought best He came and stood beside you And whispered, "Come and rest".
