Obituary of Robert William George Bell
BELL, Robert William George
April 10, 1917 - December 28, 2012 Passed away suddenly, but peacefully in his sleep, at home. Dad was in his 96th year. He never fully recovered from the loss of his loving wife Mildred, who passed away May 13, 2012, after 70 1/2 years of marriage. Robert is survived by his three sons, Russ (ex-Debbie), Stan (Brenda) and Robert Jr. (Sandy). He was the oldest in his family. His surviving siblings are Dora Getschell (predeceased by Don), Mary Cadieaux (predeceased by Bob), Ted (Claire), sister-in-law Helen Bell (predeceased by Laurel). Dad was also predeceased by several other brothers and a sister. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. Son Russ is especially saddened. He was Dad's caregiver for 11 years. His favourite grandson Luke was devastated by the loss. Luke lived with both grandparents for several years and became quite close. Dad is also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was an exceptional sheet metal mechanic. One of his earliest endeavours was making the bumpers for Volkswagens by hand, back in the early 1950's, and went on to be a sheet metal mechanic for 40 years at Local 537. Dad was proud to have served in the RCAF during WWII and earning his stripes as an Air Force Sergeant. He was stationed in Dunnville, Ontario and Edmonton, Alberta. He was also an aircraft mechanic and flew all makes of planes. At Dad's request, cremation has taken place, and there will be a Memorial Service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Donald V. Brown Funeral Home
