Obituary of Billie B. Mowat

MOWAT, Billie B. (1915-2011) Died peacefully, on Thursday, October 27, joining his wife of 63 years, Florence (nee Dalgleish). He will be fondly remembered by his son Bruce and daughter-in-law Pat, and loving granddaughters Michelle and Chrissy and her husband Mike. A witness to our nation’s history, Billie was a WW II Veteran of the R.C.A.F. He was wounded and taken P.O.W at the Battle of Arnhem. Active member of the Hamilton Fastball and Basketball athletic communities, and employee of National Grocers in the first half of the 1900’s. He was a world explorer, travelling salesman with Biltmore Hats, active resident of Stoney Creek and Dunedin Florida , long time member of Glendale Golf and Country Club and the Burlington Lawn Bowling Club. He was an avid bridge player at the Stoney Creek and Winona Seniors Centres. He was loved and respected by many, and lived his life fully, with dignity, and a constant appreciation for all of the gifts he’d been given. At Bill’s request, there will be no Funeral Service. Family and friends will be received for Memorial Visitation at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday, October 30th from 2–5 p.m. Thank you to the staff at Maple Crest Retirement Home in Grimsby, for their attentive care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
