Obituary of William Thomas James Purdy

PURDY, William Thomas James September 8, 1929-August 8, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic passing of our much loved father, grandfather and great-grandfather at home on Wednesday, August 8, 2012. Predeceased by his wife Frances Magdelina. Beloved father of Jo-Ann (Dave), Judy, Mike (Kim), Marty, Matthew (Laurie), Lee (Karen) and Peter (Jan). Cherished grandfather of 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his daughter Pamela. Survived by his sister Bette Davidson. Will be sadly missed by his dog Buffy. Bill was the proud owner and operator of Purdy Signs in Grimsby for 41 years. He was also a member of Union Lodge # 7 A.F. & A.M. in Grimsby for over 27 years. Special thanks to the staff at Juravinski Hospital for their excellent care, especially Dr. Hotte and Dr. Corbett. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Centennial Park Baptist Church, 11 Kennedy Rd., Grimsby on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. As per Bill’s wishes, cremation will follow.
