Always the fondest memories of our spiritual mentor and shaman, Wawatasse ( Brian Rees) whose humble nature and deeply connected soul to ancient ways, blessed so many. We learned, we shared, we all benefited from knowing this extraordinary man. He taught me so so much about living life graciously . He is not forgotten, nor the unique sharings and teachings he imparted about unseen worlds, metaphysics, shamanism, nature, our universe and the journey of mankind. He was a healer of. the spirit in every regard and I'll miss him all the days of my life as will so many others whose lives he touched.

My sincere condolences to you all.
I knew Brian from an earlier era where he coached and taught young men the joy of hockey and teamwork. We fondly dubbed him "Mork" a name which left no doubt to whom someone was referring to in Curve Lake. He was always deeply interested in Native traditions.
May your spirit soar forever more and the Creator bring comfort to those lives you touched on Mother Earth.

Dear Caitlin, Gavin and family; In your time of sorrow, draw strength from your memories and your father will forever live on in your hearts.
A heart of gold stopped beating,
Hard working hands now rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.
Stay strong, Love you!

Brian was a quiet, gentle and caring man. His ability to reach people of all ages was nothing short of special.
Along with the lessons he taught us and the guidance he offered he was a kind spirit, we are sure that there is a special star in the sky for him - a comfortable world with a beautiful warm breeze to carry the sounds of his bagpipes.
We were lucky to have known him and will remember him always.
Our thoughts go out to his family and those closest to him.

Adapted from: Elton John "Candle In The Wind"
"Goodbye Bree-an,
May you ever grow in our hearts
You were the grace that placed itself
Where lives were torn apart
You called out to each one of us
And you whispered to those in pain
Now you belong to heaven
And the stars spell out your name
And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset
When the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall here
Along the greenest hills
Your candle's burned out long before
Your legend ever will..."

A young Brian taught me to find a thrush's nest and count the eggs without upsetting the mother. He taught me the names of constellations while we laid on a picnic table at dark. He taught me to fish and how to paddle a canoe.
That's the man I fell in love with and married. That's the man with whom I had 3 fabulous children. I am so grateful for that.
My condolences to all.
