Obituary of Wilbert (Butch) Boettcher

BOETTCHER, Wilbert “Butch” Peacefully, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, Butch passed away with his family at his side on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in his 84th year. Butch is survived by his wife Anne of 54 years, his 4 sons and partners, Brian and Carlene, Daryl and Sharon, Murray and Charmaine, Colin and Audrey and his proud grandchildren, Jordan, Cassandra and Amanda. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret and Irma, brother’s Elmer and Albert and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Jake, Walter and Art. Butch proudly served in the Canadian military from 1944-45. He was the founder and president of the Arco Iron and Fence Company. Butch and his wife Anne generously volunteered their time and welding business back to the community of Stoney Creek by sponsoring many hockey teams over the years along with manufacturing the first goal nets for Stoney Creek Minor Hockey Association. His passion for life included moose hunting, fly-in fishing adventures and snowmobiling with his boys. Farming ran deep in his blood along with a love of his horses and dogs. His green thumb was evident by his meticulous care of his lawn and gardens winning trillium awards. Special thanks to Sarah Boettcher and to close friends Dan and Colleen MacCormack for all their love and support. A special thank you to the staff on the 8th floor of the Hamilton General Hospital and to the Emergency staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital. The family will never forget the excellent care given by Dr. Irene Tuttle. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Monday, January 10, 2011 from 6-9 p.m. A private family service will take place later.
