Obituary of Donald Harvey Staples

STAPLES, Donald Harvey In his 80th year passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the Juravinski Centre, surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer. Don is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Verna (nee Felker). Loving Dad of Carol (Bruce), Gary (Laurie) and Diana. Admired Grandfather (Pop) to Jason (Daniela), Crystal (Pete), Andrea (Peter), Justin (Chi) and Danielle. Special Papa to Alexis, Marcus, Damian and Jacob. Don (Pop) will also be missed by many members of his extended families of Calgary and Hamilton. Dear brother of Jean (Jim deceased), Leslie (deceased) and Amy, Bill (deceased) and Gloria (deceased), Roy (Gloria), Murray (Dorothy) and Joyce. Special thanks to Dr. Reddy, Dr. Whitton, Dr. Greenspoon, Dr. M. Granthan and all the nurses and staff at C-3 Ward at the Juravinski Centre. Also, Family Dr. Juriansz, the CCAC, Can Care, VON, Care Plus, CBI and Homeplus. Retired General Foreman after 38 years at Stelco where he made many lifelong friends. Don was a man of many trades, woodworking, picture framing and all around handyman. He also enjoyed playing guitar, listening to country music, travelling and spending time with his family and large circle of friends. Family and friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Ave. Dr., Stoney Creek on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. As per Don's wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral Service will be held at Rymal Road Community Church, Rymal Road East at Fletcher's Road, on November 25, 2010 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
