Obituary of G. John Vellenga

VELLENGA, G. John After a courageous battle with cancer, the LORD in his infinite mercy and wisdom took John to Himself on November 1, 2008, in his 80th year. Beloved husband of 57 years to Ann (nee Elgersma). Loving father of Peter and Judith, Margaret and Leo DeVries, Patricia and Tim McGee, Joanne and Jetze Wiersma, Sonya and Bob Harbic, Gordon and Teresa, Andrew and Deana, David and Marlene. Dear grandpa to thirty-one grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Predeceased by two grandchildren. Beloved brother of Ted and (Anke +), Anne and (Bill +) Spoelstra, Pete and Sylvia, Clara and Elco Brouwer. Friends and family will be received at the DONALD V. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Monday, November 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. We welcome all to a Memorial Service on Tuesday, November 4 at 11 a.m. at Fruitland Christian Reformed Church, 805 Highway #8, Stoney Creek, followed by fellowship and refreshments. Preceding the Memorial Service there will be a private interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to McNally House Hospice or the Hoekstra Children Trust which can be directed to the Fruitland Christian Reformed Church would be appreciated by the family.
