WHYTE, James Robert Herbert
February 13, 1917-December 15, 2008
After a long life, full of love and happiness and abundant blessing, the Lord has called Jim home. In his 92nd year, at the Alexander Place Nursing Home in Waterdown, he passed over with his beloved wife Gladys (married 67 years) supporting him at his bedside. Cherished by his children Allen and wife Doreen, and Graham and wife Linda, he was a much loved and valued grandfather to Kathryn, Karyn (and husband Douglas), Blair, Andrea (and husband Giuseppe), and James (and fiancée Jodie); and to his great-grand-daughters Lauren, Grace and Kate. Predeceased by his brother Robert, he will be sadly missed by all member of his family including sister-in-law Betty Whyte and niece Elizabeth Lochbihler (and husband Perry), brothers James Thrower (and wife Violet) and Tom Moore (and wife Wilma), and sisters Louise Thrower and Marion Moore and all their families. Jim was a veteran of the Canadian Navy, serving his country during WWII, and a retired officer of Canada Customs. A faithful member of Philpott Memorial Church throughout his lifetime, Jim served on the church board, in the choir, and as a never failing prayer and visitation support for members of the congregation. Family and friends will be welcomed at the DONALD V. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, with the funeral to be held at Philpott Memorial Church, 84 York Blvd., Hamilton, at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 19 (refreshments to follow at the church) with private interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Hamilton.
