To the family of Reta,
I am the daughter of Reta's room-mate, Helen Harkness, at Maple Villa. I live in Calgary but have been down to Ontario regularly since mid August when my Mother had her stroke and then went into Maple Villa last October.
I have briefly met some of you while visiting. I wanted to tell you that you are all in my heart and prayers today and all of this week. Your Mother was wonderful to my Mom. As well I really enjoyed our talks while I was there waiting for my Mom to come back to her room or the three of us would have a chat. She treated Mom and my brothers with respect, a good sense of humour and dignity. Reta was able to get Mom out of her room and join some of the others in activities. For all of this I was grateful knowing that Mom had a 'good' room-mate.
It will feel very different for me to go into their room mid February on my next visit and not see Reta.
