I also knew Phil from Santa Monica football days and always felt very close to him. I feel fortunate that in 2009 I met him on a trip to Toronto where we were able to go out and have a few drinks to remenisce over the "old days" -I'll miss ya mate!
With sympathies to his family, may he rest in peace!

I worked with Phil and he was always reliable and well liked by all his colleagues. If you needed someone to work on when others went home, Phil was there to help.
I also played football with him and he always gave 200 percent and scored a few memorable goals.
He will be missed by all who knew him and it was a pleasure to have shared some of my life with him.

See that scintilla? See that spark?
That rapid-raced across the Hamilton sky,
And lit the dark?
Perhaps that was the spirit of a Santa Monica Sunset.
Goodbye Phil, it was good knowing you; you have earned your wings not least for putting up with my odd ways during those Argonaut and Santa Monica days. I guess I may see you, on the wing, on that eternal pitch someday - you know me, I'm lost and still trying to find the changing room. God bless Phil.

I played soccer with Phil for many years. I remember him as a passionate man, with allways an encouraging word for everyone.
His friendly and supportive character was a pleasure to be around.
May he rest in peace.

Phil was a part of our family for many years and although when he moved to Canada we didn't keep in touch as much as we all would have liked he was still in our thoughts and remained a good friend. We are all very sad at his passing at such a young age and because we won't see him again but we will remember him from years gone by. He could be a bit of a grump at times but he was also a generous man, in spirit and in deed and a very hard worker. We'll miss you Phil and never forget you.
Rest in peace.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all his family at this very sad time.

It was very sad to hear the news about Phil I known him for many years and played football with him for both the Argonauts and Santa Monica - He was one of the kindest and most generous people I've ever met - and so laid back with it.
