Obituary of Richard William Hornby/Mehlenbacher

(1966-2014) With saddened hearts, we lost Rick after a brave and courageous fight with cancer. Rick is loved, adored and deeply missed by his wife Carolynne Wahlman, mom Joanne Mehlenbacher (John Douglas), dad Robert Hornby (Karen), in-laws Ron Wahlman and Louise (Mike), siblings Rob (Tammy), Matt and Janine, extended family, McFamily, numerous friends especially Keith, Bill and Joe and neighbours. Predeceased by Rick’s beloved stepfather Larry Mehlenbacher. Missed by his dog Sadie. The world lost a kind, compassionate, caring, amazing man with a deep infectious laugh. Rick had a heart of gold and drew in all those around him. The lives that he touched showed through the large number of visitors. We thank you for your love and support. Go Habs Go, Kiss rules, always keep smiling. To be the man, you have to beat the man. Rick, you are the undefeated champion. Special thanks to the caring staff at St. Peter’s Hospital. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Stoney Creek United Church (corner of King St. and Lake Avenue) on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
