Obituary of Joyce Corbett

CORBETT, Joyce Peacefully and with such dignity, Joyce passed away with her family by her side on Friday, October 18. Predeceased by her husband, Allistair, loving mother of Ian Corbett (Barb) and Alison D’Atri (Rob). Joyce’s pride and joy were her grandchildren: Scott Corbett (Samantha), Kendra Muir (Dougie), Sarah D’Atri and Luke D’Atri. Joyce is also survived by her twin sister, June Spence. Predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and William Gray of Scotland, and her sister Elizabeth Davenport. In addition to Joyce being a wonderful and supportive mother, grandmother, wife and friend to many, she volunteered for many years at the Hamilton General Hospital and at Glen Echo School where she was of great assistance to the children. Joyce enjoyed her faith community of The Church of Our Saviour The Redeemer, Stoney Creek, and her association with the New Horizons Seniors in Stoney Creek. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Sunday, October 20, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Service will take place in the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 21 at 1 p.m., with interment to follow at Eastlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family have requested donations be made in Joyce’s memory to The Church of Our Saviour The Redeemer, Stoney Creek, or to McMaster Children’s Hospital. A special thanks to all who supported mom through this part of her journey. We cannot thank you enough for your friendships.
