Obituary of Elizabeth Oddie
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Betty) Oddie in her 102nd year. Predeceased by her husband John (Jack). Much loved mother of Lynne (the late Brian Larsen), Doreen (Brian Storey), Allan and Cheryl Oddie. Cherished grandmother of John, Trevor, Philip (Kerry), and Jordan. Loving great-grandmother of Liam and Evan. Special adopted grandmother of Lindsay (Ben), Allison (Curtis), Rachel (Jeff) and babies Chuck and Irv. A heartfelt thanks to her compassionate home caregivers Menchi and Carolyn. The generous support of Toni (Nurse) is greatly appreciated. Thank you to all of the staff that visited our home. Betty passed away in her home according to her wishes. She was born in Paisley, Scotland and came to Hamilton when she was 16 years old. Betty was a charter member and past president of the Stoney Creek Opti-Mrs. Club. Her volunteer work touched many lives around Stoney Creek (Pine Villa Nursing Home) and Hamilton (St. Matthews House). She received the Confederation of Canada medal for her volunteer contributions in 1992 and the Volunteer Recognition Award from the City of Stoney Creek in 1993. Cremation has taken place Friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
