Obituary of Grace Winnifred Bailey (Gunn)
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Grace Bailey announces her passing at 102 years young. Predeceased by her parents Mary and George Gunn, her brothers Harry and Bill Gunn and her husband Jack “Ace” Bailey. Grace was a loving mother to Gerald Corrigan, Corrine Jones and Donald Corrigan, and became step-mother to Barry (Judy), Jack (Helen), and Bob when fate smiled on her and she met and married her dear husband Ace. She was a wonderful grandmother to many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Grace was also a cherished aunt to her nieces and nephews and their families. She will be deeply missed by all her family and extended family. Grace had many good friends over the years, many of whom she had known since childhood and her early twenties. She is survived by her dear friend Jean Wayne of Stoney Creek. A long time employee of the Hamilton Spectator, Grace worked at the Stoney Creek and Grimsby offices for many years. She was known for her wonderfully quick wit and delightful sense of humour, which she maintained to the end! She loved to share her memories of early Hamilton, and had an amazing ability to paint a picture with her words when describing her life as a small girl and young woman. Grace loved her French poodles, and is surely holding all three on her lap right now. She was an avid seamstress and would never say no to a chocolate éclair or anything chocolate for that matter. At Grace’s request, a private interment will be held. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care and many kindnesses shown to Grace over the last five years by the staff at Idlewyld Manor. Their compassion and support during her last few days was truly appreciated and will never be forgotten. Thank you all. Notes of sympathy and condolences may be made at www.donaldvbrown.ca
