Obituary of Harold Sykes

1920-2015 Peacefully, at Exeter Villa, on Thursday, September 3, 2015, Harold passed away at 95 years old. Harold Jesse Sykes was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 27, 1920. He will be reunited with Hilda Catherine Sykes (nee Melanson), his beloved wife of 69 years and their daughter Mary Lee Baron (2000). Loving father of Pam Simpson (Jim), Kathy Gielen (John) and Lynn Kuhn (Brad). Cherished grandfather of Holly Simpson, Shannon Ryan (Rick), Chris Gielen (Becky), Bryan Gielen, Stacey Rowe, Lisa Brown, Corey Rowe (Christina), Heather Stewart (Shawn), the late Jay Kuhn (2000) and many great-grandchildren. Harold was a long time resident of Stoney Creek and a dedicated Good Year Tire and Rubber Company employee. He enjoyed many wonderful summers in Grand Bend with family and friends. Harold appreciated the friendships he made at the Laurier Recreation Centre with his fellow swimmers and the lifeguards. As per Harold’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 304 Hwy. 8, Stoney Creek, on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 1 p.m. A private family interment will take place at White Chapel Memorial Gardens at a later date.
