Obituary of Neeltje P. Bouwhuis

Suddenly, at St. Catharines Hospital on September 25, 2014 after an unexpected brief illness, Nellie Bouwhuis passed away. Nellie was a proud 96 years of age, enjoying and participating fully in life as if she was 30 years younger. Predeceased by her husband Dirk Bouwhuis. She was cherished by her eight children, all of whom she loved dearly. Her passing was totally unexpected as she lived independently, was in good health, socially active, and loving her church and family. Her good nature and friendly demeanor impressed all who met her. She would meet you with an endearing smile and a kind word. We cannot express her loss in words, as tears overcome the thought of her passing. We all loved her and though we will greatly miss her, it is comforting to know she is with her Lord and Saviour. She leaves behind all her eight children: Maria (Dick) Vermeer, Dirk (Heather), Dirkje (the late Jack) Godwaldt, Deborah (Rick) Porritt, Bill (Doreen), Ena (Teo) Frans, Nel (Craig) Jones, Ed Bouwhuis, and a treasure of twenty-five grand-children, forty-seven great-grand-children, and two great-great-grand- children. Visitation to take place at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Monday, September 29th at 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery on September 30, 2014 at 12:00 noon.
