Dear Dan: I am sending my deepest sympathy from across the miles to you & your families. I will of course always remember Joanne (after meeting her as a teen through you). Although I did not see her after moving to New York, she will be remembered in many good times from our youth, never to be forgotten. Joanne was very blessed to have made a beautiful family with you. May she rest in peace & please know you & your daughter are in my prayers - so sorry for your loss.........

Rick and I knew Joanne a long time ago growing up in the east end of Hamilton, we attended Parkdale school, as well as Ballard public school, and Sir Winston Churchill secondary . Joanne and I lived on the same street as kids, Walter avenue, we went to the same parties as teens, had some of the same group of friends and had our pictures taken together at the grade 8 grad with our lovely dresses that were hand made. Myself, Val Tuck, and Joanne were always together doing something or another! Over the years as we all got married and had our children, we decided on living in Grimsby, good choice! So did Joanne and her family! So we would see her all the time at baseball, Peach King games, on the street or in Teddy's, still the same Joanne, always fun and friendly and strong! Her daughter Sarah was in school with our daughter Elise as well. I am proud of her for her strength and courage through her illness, a trooper! Rick and I have now moved on to Port Dover for retirement and Elise and David are expecting their first baby in April. Life seems to still go on, but Joanne will always be remembered by all of us, a shining light forever, our thoughts and prayers to Sarah and Dan and to the Fillmore family.

Joanne, what a great inspiration to all who are fighting that terrible disease. Met you on a school trip with Sarah and Ainsley. I knew then you were a fighter, and a kind caring person. Would see you in Shopper's and we'd always stop and chat...our girls became such good friends over the years. So glad I got to know you and see you not long before you were called home!
