Obituary of Azilda Poirier

With great sadness and fondest memories, we announce the passing of Azilda Poirier on January 3, 2015, at Macassa Lodge following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, at the age of 80. Azilda was the daughter of the late Josaphat and Victoria Michaud. Born in the small northern town of Val Gagné. She was the youngest of eight children. She will be missed by much loved husband Henry of 61 years. Dearest mother of Suzanne (Garnet), Carmen (Bill), and John (Cindy). Cherished grandmother of Liezanne (Guy), Michelle (Bryan), Sarah (Johnny), John, Breanne, Ashley and Nicole (Sydney). Proud great-grandmother to Paige, Gaetano, Megan, Alyssa, Natalie, Lauren, Liam, Joshua, Nathan and Landon. Dear sister to Wilson Michaud (Audrey), Yvette Paolini (the late Rocco). Predeceased by her siblings Marianne Côté (the late Phil), Marcel Michaud (the late Reggie), Julie Watts (the late Bill), Roger Michaud (Delores), and Anita King (the late Bob). She will be sadly missed by her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nephews, nieces and friends. Azilda will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, generosity, funny sayings and quick wit. Special thank you to the caring staff at Macassa Lodge for their respectful, kind and compassionate care, in particular the angels in CI West. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenuc Drive, Stoney Creek on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 11:00 am.
