Obituary of Doreen Lilian Grainger
We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved wife and Mum. Cared for and loved by her family, she died peacefully at home in her 94th year. Survived by her husband of 68 years Melville, her daughters Faye Lee (Philip), Heather Brookham (John) and Dawn Sparks (Rick). She was a special Granmum to “her boys” Rob (Holly), Devon (Ashley), Cameron (Michelle), Aaron (Becky), Jacob (Angie), Gage and Logan. Loving GG Ma to Connor, Benjamin and Joshua. Doreen was a proud WREN, Royal Canadian Navy Veteran of WWII. She had a faith based passion for people serving for many years as a volunteer driver for the Seniors Outreach Service, canvassing for Cancer, Heart and Stroke and Salvation Army drives. She was a long time serving member of Cheyne Presbyterian Church. Thank you to all who were involved in the compassionate delivery of palliative care in her home. We appreciate your kind presence. A special thank you to Dr. Paul Andrus as well. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Cheyne Presbyterian Church (corner of First St. and King St.) at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donation to Cheyne Presbyterian Church, World Vision or The Cat Clinic would be greatly appreciated.
