Obituary of Gabriele DiFrancesco

DiFRANCESCO, Gabriele “Danny” (1934-2011) Passed away peacefully, after a valiant battle with cancer. Loving husband and best friend to his wife of 55 years, Maria. Awesome father to Michael (Anna), Rosemarie D’Avella (Michael) of Calgary, Dino (Louisa) of St. Catharines, Robert (Colleen) of Burlington, Lynn Volaric and friend George of Stoney Creek, and John (Janet) of Ottawa. Loving grandfather of Denise, Tori, Matthew, Julian, Jefferey, Daniel, Paula, Matthew, Marie, Sam, Sara, Emma, Michael Jr., Andrea and Joseph. Brother of Rocco (Frances) of St. Catharines. Uncle to several nieces and nephews. During his 63 year professional career, he had been employed by Dominion Stores Ltd. for 32 years, with Willett Foods Kitchener for four years, National Grocers (Loblaws) for ten years and most recently for Ippolito Group in Burlington for 16 years. He received the Ontario Produce Marketing Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004. The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Juravinski Cancer Clinic and Hospital especially Dr. C. Kouroukis and nurses Karen, Simon in Emergency Express, and the Hematology Clinic staff. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avene Drive, Stoney Creek on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil for the deceased Friday at 3 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 934 Highway # 8, Stoney Creek on Saturday, August 6th at 9:30 a.m. Interment Mountview Gardens.
