Dear Friends
I acquired a 1931 Rolls Royce that was owned James Malpass during the 1980's - 1990's . I am researching the history of this car
and would be interested to hear from anyone who might be to add something about the past.I have attached a photo taken during the 1930's in the UK.

Having seen all the comments friends of Jim have made, we can only echo them. The common thread seems more than degrees and certificates to qualify Jim as a physician. It's my impression Jim's natural character to make people feel good as a patient, a colleague or a friend was a quality that didn't come from school. Knowing Jim through family socials was our good fortune to experience this quality. Best wishes to Leys. Maybe there's one more concert left in us if John will book tickets.

Dear Leys and Family,
It is with great sadness that we learned of Jim’s passing. He will be dearly missed. It was Jim’s generosity and compassion along with Dr. Chan’s that gave my family an opportunity to start a new life in Canada. Oh what an opportunity that has been!
I recently understood the magnitude of responsibility and commitment required to sponsor a family as I look into the program with the recent refugee crisis. Our family will be forever indebted. Jim’s legacy will live on with our family as we strive to be outstanding Canadians in the generations to come.
Our thoughts are with you and hope you find comfort in the precious memories of Jim.

Dr Malpass will be missed by our family.
He was a kind and gentle doctor. My mother, Mary Gour always told me that
Dr Malpass was so very fond of our Nanny (Mary Ann Cosgrove).
As a child and then as an adult he would greet you in his examination room with a friendly face and a genuine interest in your health and well-being.
I have been very fortunate in having wonderful doctors in my life, Dr Malpass the
start of good relationships with my doctors, he was cherished by our family in
his caring and his expertise.
I am truly sorry for your loss.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of your dad. He was a unique guy with a tremendous sense of humour and a real zest for life - he was one of a kind. Please pass on our condolences to your mom, Jim, Anne and their families. Tonight I will have two shots, not one, in his honour because with your dad one was never enough. He was a real fun person to be around.
Be well,

Jim was my family doctor when I was growing up and took an interest in encouraging me to go to Queens and to become a physician as well.He took the time to allow me in the operating room and on his visits to Sears even before I went to medical school.
He was a very kind, considerate family doctor and I will always remember him playing a large role in my decision to become a family doctor like him.
My condolences to his family.

It didn't matter how sick you felt when you went to see Dr. Malpass, because he made you feel 100% better after the visit just with his warm smile and his jokes. Joanie was also a special lady and I'm sure she had many fun times working with Dr. Malpass. Remember all the wonderful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. God Bless your family at this time.

Dear John, Ann and Jim:
I was sorry to hear the news this morning that your father has passed away. I met him on several occasions in Port Burwell and Stoney Creek. He was a warm and generous man, able to converse at every level and always with good humour. They are very fond memories for me, and I am sure that you have many, many more which will always keep him close to you. My condolences, too, to your mother.

the Firmin family would like to light a candle to show Jim the way to a place to meet old friends and perhaps visit with my father Sydney(Tim) Firmin, who left us many years ago. I am sure they are reflecting on life, and death and watching over children and grandchildren in the loving arms of the Almighty. Please find comfort in the knowledge he has passed to physicians he has mentored and the kindness he offered to his patients.
May he rest in peace

To the Malpass family: may we , the Firmin family, offer our sincerest condolences to you at this difficult time.
I met Jim as a very small child many years ago and remained a patient until his retirement. Our family is often reminded of the care he gave us during happy times, of births, and the sad time during my father, Tim's, passing.
We have since scattered to other family doctor's but have always remembered the kind, compassionate man Jim was. He was a great physician but more importantly a true gentleman and kind man.
Always remember the loss you feel is also felt by many others whose lives he touched.
May he rest in peace and may you find comfort in the memories you share as a family.
sincerely
Pamela Firmin and
Susan Swayze(Firmin) and our children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren.

Back in the days,Jim worked at Otis Elevator in the Foundry(black hole) with my Dad,
Harry.I remember the day when my Dad came home and told us that Jimmy threw
his shovel down and said he was going back to school.Thank God he did for all the
wonderful things he did thru out his life.
l met Jim, as Otis had a baseball league and the foundry had a team, and l was the
batboy,he made me touch his bat before he went up to bat,he made me feel special-
he was my hero
l have not seen or talk to Jim since his Otis days, but thought of him often..
His Dad on Saturdays would hop on a bus and hit a few of the North-End Pubs and
drop in at my Dad house before heading home, another great man.
I myself will be going in for surgery and hope Jim will be looking down for one
touch of the bat,and a home run

Dr. Malpass delivered my son Timothy Mark Bower on December 2, 1964, he will be
51 years of age soon. I was a young mother-to-be and Tim was my first born. Being very nervous, Dr. Malpass helped me through this terrifying experience. He was a fairly new doctor at the time but a very kind, gentle man and he helped keep me calm.
Dr. Malpass was a wonderful human being.

My thoughts & prayers are with the family of Dr. Malpass. Dr. Malpass was a wonderful, caring, compassionate, understanding, doctor. He was the best!! (along with his friend (& my family doctor/friend, Jim Davidson). We had a mutual friend, Dr. J.D. Davidson (who was my doctor since I was 18 yr old....then off he went to Texas, then retired in Florida). Dr. Malpass will be missed. I used to see him at Commisso's on Barton St..and he would always take the time to chat. He was a fantastic person!!!
