Obituary of Milorad (Bob) & Ann Ostoich

OSTOICH, Milorad (Bob) OSTOICH, Ann (nee Kisil) After a life very much lived, Milorad (Bob) Ostoich passed away on March 10, 2016 followed soon thereafter on April 3, 2016 by his wife and life long soul mate Ann (nee Kisil). Born in the former Yugoslavia, Bob had a difficult childhood and with great tenacity survived four years in a labour camp during World War II. Bob made his way to Quebec to work in a mine before travelling to Hamilton. Bob’s life changed forever when he met Ann Kisil at a dance. Ann was barely 5 feet tall but housed boundless energy and a passion for life. Bob joined Ann’s family business, namely, the Waverley Tavern on Barton Street in Hamilton. Bob and Ann were inseparable for 58 years as they built friendships across the City of Hamilton and beyond. Bob loved the people that he would meet working at the Waverley. In addition to working in the family business, Ann loved playing bridge with dear friends as well as studying Japanese flower arranging and entertaining her many family and friends. After Bob’s retirement at the young age of 78, they enjoyed many trips to different parts of the world as well as spending time with their grandchildren. Bob and Ann are survived by their sons Robert (Mary) and Gary (Katherine) along with their grandchildren Catherine, Samantha and Alexa of Philadelphia and Taylor, Connor, Liam and Ayden of Toronto. Ann was predeceased by her brother, Victor and sister, Eileen. A heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Orchard Terrace Care Centre for their compassionate care and dedication. A private family ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario would be appreciated www.alzheimer.ca/en/on.
