Obituary of Edith (Eda) Rita Mancini

MANCINI, Edith (Eda) Rita (nee Ferrara) Passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital on Wednesday April 13, 2016 at the age of 94. Predeceased by her loving husband Frank (1979) and her beloved son Philip (2011). Loving mother of Francine and her husband Chris Caunce of Burlington and mother-in-law of Sue Mancini of Stoney Creek. Cherished grandmother of Dan, Eric (Jenny), Caleb, Noah, Kiah and great-grandmother of Blake, Jared, Arden and Claire. Edith’s world revolved around her family and she took great pride in all of them. Edith is survived by her sister Rita Tessaro and will be missed by her many nieces and nephews especially Cindy, Dana and her telephone buddy Pauline. Edith will be greatly missed for her sharp mind, great sense of humour and unending devotion to her family with unconditional love. She had lived the last year at The Village of Tansley Woods Retirement Home where she had made wonderful friendships which we will be forever grateful for. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her life and find comfort in knowing she is in heaven watching over us all. The family expresses their gratitude for the years of care from Dr. R. Profetto and for the wonderful nurses at Joseph Brant in ward 5 South especially Cathie and Sam for their care and support. Friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 304 Hwy #8, Stoney Creek on Monday April 18, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Amyloidosis Support Network (www.thecasn.org) in honour of Phil would be appreciated by the family.
