Obituary of Muriel Irene Black
BLACK, Muriel Irene
After a brief illness, Muriel was peacefully called home to meet her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on April 25, 2016 her 96th year. She is predeceased by her parents, Ken Black (1980) and Grace Black (1986) and her brothers Vern (2006) and Murray (2006). She will be dearly missed by her sister-in-law Evelyn Black, her many “beloved” nieces and nephews and lovingly remembered by her many cousins and friends. Muriel was a graduate of St. Joseph’s School of Nursing (1943) and Prairie Bible Institute (1948). She served as a missionary nurse with SIM Canada in French West Africa (now Burkina Faso) from 1949 to 1969. After returning to Canada, her nursing career took her back to PBI as the charge nurse at the school infirmary. She also worked at Joseph Brant Hospital and the Hamilton Mountain Nursing Home. She was involved with many mission organizations and also served as a prayer counselor at 100 Huntley St. Muriel’s foremost desire was to serve her Lord, which she did faithfully until the day He called her home. We wish to thank Dr. Woods and the palliative team at St. Joseph’s Hospital and especially nurses Ellen and Cathy from CTU West who gave outstanding care. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 in the Fellowship Hall at West Highland Baptist Church, 1605 Garth St. Hamilton, ON.
