Obituary of Anton Justo Zic
ZIC, Anton
Surrounded by the love of his family, Anton Justo Zic passed away peacefully on May 30, 2016 just shy of his 90th birthday. Anton will be deeply missed by his wife and soul mate of 65 years, Jean; his children, Marija Cooper (Douglas), Tony Zic, Trish Trombetta (John); grandchildren, Anthony Cooper, Matthew Zic, Nicholas Trombetta, Michael Trombetta; and by Carol Zic. Anton was a quiet, gentle and humble man of simple pleasures...enjoying a meal surrounded by family, a nice glass of wine, bird watching in his garden, throwing the ball to Jackie Boy, or harvesting some very mediocre tomatoes (poor Dad had an ongoing battle with a certain black walnut tree for 40 years but downright refused to ever consider cutting a tree down). Anton was a proud immigrant with an unrivaled work ethic. Hard work and perseverance were his motto. Even when faced with declining health, he pushed on and, characteristic of our father, he never complained. Most of all, Anton loved his family completely and unconditionally. We are all better people for the fine example he set. Dad was born on September 26, 1926 in Punat on the Island of Krk and, as per his wishes he will be cremated and we will return his ashes to the beloved mountains and sea of his youth. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday, June 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where a Celebration of his Life will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. In Anton`s memory, donations to Wesley Urban Ministries-Resettlement Assistance Program would be appreciated by his family.
