Obituary of Margaret "Margie" Rosemary McLeod

McLEOD, Margaret Rosemary "Margie" (nee Holgate) March 18, 1923 - September 5, 2016 Passed away peacefully at the Village of Tansley Woods Retirement Community, Burlington in her 94th year. Beloved wife and constant companion for 60 years of the late Gilbert McLeod. Predeceased by parents Bert Holgate and Reta (Moorhouse). Survived by sisters Reta (late Jim), Shirley (Walt), daughter Joan Grassi (Vito), sons Colin (Terry) and Bruce (Jan), grandchildren Matthew, Marina, Paolo, Elizabeth,Peter, six great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Jean Murray. Margie resided in Stoney Creek after marriage in 1942. She volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society for many years. Creative writing, completing crosswords, cooking and floral design were her specialties. The legacy that she and Gil have left their children is a passion for skiing and travel. A sincere thank you to the nurses and caregivers at the Village of Tansley Woods. The family will receive friends at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Stoney Creek Cemetery.
