Obituary of Leonard Alexander Campbell

CAMPBELL, Leonard Alexander It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of Leonard Alexander Campbell, on Sunday, September 11, 2016 (the day of "heroes"). In his 87th year, and after a long and difficult past 9 months, Len passed away at the Hamilton General Hospital, peacefully, and on his own terms. With a huge hole in our hearts, Len leaves behind his life-partner of 52 years, loving wife, Joan (nee Surtees), his devoted and loving daughter, Kelly (Darling), much loved and respected son-in-law, Steve, and adoring grandchildren, Erika and Carter. Len is also survived by his brother, Eric, nieces and nephew, and other loved extended family members. Len's interesting life included being an Inspector with Public Works, City of Hamilton, an OHA referee, past owner of the Commercial Hotel (AKA "The Zoo") in Port Dover, and a part-time fleet driver with Queenston Chev Olds. All who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing Len, knew that he always put his family and friends above anything else. Len was the most honest and loyal person anyone could ever know and always looked for the good in people. Len cherished his memories with his golfing buddies and is now reunited with them and enjoying the "19th hole". Special thanks to those who were involved in Len's on-going care; Dr. Lorin Harding and staff, Mitch (CCAC), Jane (caregiver), Ash and staff at Queenston Pharmacy, many caring doctors and nurses at the Hamilton General Hospital, and all our very dear friends who have always been there for us to help support Len. Cremation has taken place. A Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, 3-7 P.M. A "Celebration of Len's Life" will take place on Thursday, September 15, 2016 3-6 P.M. at The Lakeview by Carmen's, 180 Van Wagner's Beach Rd., Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Heart & Stroke Foundation are appreciated by the family. You will forever be "my hero" Dad and will always be in our hearts - Mom says happy hours start at 4! xoxo
