Obituary of Helen Black

BLACK, Helen (nee Veres) Our beloved mother, Helen Black, passed away peacefully at the Hamilton General Hospital on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the age of 91. Predeceased by her beloved husband Ivan “Duck” Black. Mother to Larry (Mary-Jane), Wayne (Bev), Rod (Sue), and Kim (Russ). Loving grandmother to Danielle (Brooke), Joel (Saxon), Carly (Sean), Lora (Matt), and Brittney (Stu). Proud great-grandmother to seven great grandchildren. Helen is survived by her special sister Judy Strecker (Henry), brother-in-law Joe Jacina, and many nieces and nephews. Special thank you to the staff and management at the Lakeview Retirement Home for their care and compassion over the last six years. As per Helen’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. To celebrate her 90th birthday, Helen hosted her own Celebration of Life Service to honour her many years surrounded by a loving family and irreplaceable friends – a gesture that she would encourage others to experience as often as possible.
