Obituary of Joyce Mary Harris
HARRIS, Joyce Mary (Nee Garnett)
January 31, 1924-February 16, 2017
With profound sadness we announce the loss of our mother. Taking ill just after celebrating her 93rd birthday, her birthday wish came true, to be off in heaven with her Maker and her family on the other side. Born in Yorkshire, England, as an orphan she was raised by her Great Aunt Amy (Thomas) Ellis. Leaving England as a War Bride to Canada, she became a mother to five children; Garnett Boyd (deceased 2016), Stewart Alexander deceased 2005), Douglas Neil (Rhonda), William Scott and Lauraine (John) Rychlik. She so truly loved her grandchildren; Crystal, Kory, Sharlee, Paula, Zachary, Joshua and her great grandchildren; Shayla, Drayden, Brodie, Bailey, Kallie, Merrah, Kamryn, Sawyer and Holden. Mother was the most gracious, talented, creative, witty and kindest person. Her passion was in clothing and had an extraordinary sense in men’s fashion. Mom was gifted with a beautiful voice and loved to entertain those who would listen, with no fear for the stage. Her lessons in life are that there is good in every person and everyone deserves a prize. Cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date. In her memory, donations can be made to the Lady’s Social at Garside Church, 47 Garside Ave. N., Hamilton, L8H 4W1 or the Salvation Army would be appreciated. We just couldn’t keep her forever.
