Obituary of Dr. Robert Wray Ridge

RIDGE, Dr. Robert Wray Entered into rest peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2017 surrounded by his family at the Hamilton General Hospital in his 85th year after a lengthy courageous battle with Leukemia. Beloved husband to Florence (nee Davis) for 59 years. Loving father of daughter Judy and husband Jeff Mason; daughter Nancy and husband Steve Astin; son Robert and wife Sandy; son Richard and wife Carmelina. Dear grandfather to Laurie and husband Noel, Julie, Zachary, Michael, Lauren, Katie, Alicia and Daniel. Predeceased by his parents, Dr. William Wray Ridge and Ruby Rutherford Ridge (nee Springstead). Loving brother of Dr. Jack Wray Ridge and his wife Corinne. Bob was a family physician who practised medicine with his father and brother in Mt. Hope for over 40 years. He was well loved by all of his patients and delivered many babies in the community. During his career, he was often called out to see patients in all hours of the night or weekend and remained a committed family physician throughout his career. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at The Mount Hope United Church, 3076 Homestead Drive, Glanbrook on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the OSPCA would be appreciated by the family.
