Obituary of Rudolf (Rudy) Florio
FLORIO, Rudolfo (Rudy) October 15 1917 – May 4 2017
In the early morning of May 4, 2017, Rudy Florio peacefully slipped into eternal rest at St Peter’s Residence in Hamilton after a short illness. Rudy was 99 years old and lived a full, happy life. It’s the end of a great era; a wonderful century of memories. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Stella, grand-daughter Annette, and four brothers and one sister; he is survived by three children Carole (Marco), Mary, Rudy (Susanne); four grandchildren Rosaria (Mario), Daniella (Domenic), Rocky and Sarah (David) and two great-grandchildren Vincenzo and Marco as well as many nieces and nephews. Rudy lived the last two years of his life at St. Peters where he received wonderful care from the staff, care-givers and volunteers who treated him like family. Special thanks to the Birch Terrace for their kindness and support. And a very special thank you to Michelle who loved and entertained Rudy almost everyday. Rudy will be remembered fondly for his zest for life and love of boxing, horse racing and dancing; not to mention his sense of humour and fun-loving ways. A private Funeral Service was held on May 6, 2017 and Rudy has been laid to rest with his wife Stella and grand-daughter Annette at Eastlawn Cemetery in Hamilton.
