Obituary of David Michael Sutton

SUTTON, David Michael

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Dave passed away on January 9th 2018 in his 60th year after a courageous battle with cancer.  Cherished husband of Mara Bevan.  Will also be missed by his devoted mother Margaret, his son Jacob and his loving brother Neil.  Predeceased by his father Dave in 2000.  Also survived by his nephews Ryan Sutton and Trevor Sutton.  Stepfather to Michael Bevan and Daniel Bevan.  Special son-in-law of Jerry and Julie Giacomuzzo, brother-in-law to Gary and Lori Giacomuzzo and uncle to Andrew Giacomuzzo  of Belleville.  Dave will also leave behind special friends: Norm, Mark, Gord, Red and many other close friends.  After retiring from Dofasco in 2011, working as a pipefitter for 35 years, he enjoyed golfing and umpiring baseball for the Dofasco men’s league.  His favourite things to do were spending time with his family, his large circle of friends and most of all, with his loving wife and soul mate, Mara.  A grateful thank you to all of Dave and Mara’s friends for their ongoing love and support.  Thanks to Dr. Darin Treleaven and the Nephrology Team at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their help and support through this difficult year.  We would also like to thank the wonderful staff in the Hematology Unit at Juravinski Hospital, especially Nurse Practitioner Andrea Miller for her daily devotion and compassion in caring for Dave.  Thank you to Dr. Heather Roelfsema, Family Physician for her help.  Finally, our deepest appreciation to everyone at McNally House Hospice in Grimsby for helping us through the final stages of Dave’s life.  Cremation has taken place.  Friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday January 14, 2018 from 1 p.m. until the time of service in the chapel at 3 p.m.    In lieu of flowers, donations to McNally House Hospice in Grimsby would be much appreciated.  Notes of sympathy and condolence may be made at www.donaldvbrown.ca
