We have such a heavy heart hearing about your dad Mike. Mike and I meet when I was eleven at Woodland Campsite, and we had wonderful summer adventures till we were around 18 and then only a few times after he got married and had you guys. We all seemed to go our separate ways as life sometimes has it .
I’m So Sorry we lost touch, but as you said your dad brought smiles and laughter to everyone He met.
I think of him so fondly, and smile at the memories of the antics and his good nature he brought with him to our group of friends at Woodland .
We all hope we can make it on the weekend to your celebration because that’s what the old mike would have wanted . To celebrate his life and remember those great times growing up.
Please pass on our condolences to the family .

I've know Mike for at least 20 years and always enjoyed our talks and spending time together. He was always full of life and laughter. He was very proud of his family and adored his grandchildren to the fullest. His attitude towards his cancer was beyond amazing not giving up and living life. I will miss him dearly and never forget him.

Condolences to the Small family on the loss of a great man.Mike Sr. was one of a kind and will truly be missed. Mike lived life to the fullest and always had a smile and a joke tell. He was an avid fisherman and an excellent Stuart Plate fishing partner. Mike will be remembered for his generous heart and fun loving attitude.
My fondest memories of Mike are the times we spent fishing. Whether we were out in the boat for a day of leisurely fishing or competing in the Stuart Plate fishing tournament, there was always a good time to be had. There were many other memorable moments but the moments that are most memorable are visiting Mike at the trailer park and attending Mikestock.
Mike loved children and would dress up as Santa and visit my daughter every Christmas without fail. One Christmas eve he lent his Santa suit to a stranger to play Santa for his children. Unfortunately, the stranger did not return the Santa suit as promised and the following Christmas when Mike went to get the Santa suit ready for Santa's routine visit, he realized that the suit was never returned and that he did not have a Santa suit to wear. Mike did not want to disappoint the children and he reluctantly called to inform us that he wouldn't be able to play Santa that year because he didn't have a Santa suit and asked if we might know of anyone who had a Santa suit he could borrow for a couple of hours so that he may visit the children. My wife drove all over town on Christmas eve to find a suit and bought one for him to wear so that he could play Santa for my daughter and her friends. I truly believe that Mike got a big kick out of playing Santa for the kids as you would see that special twinkle in his eyes when he enthusiastically roared... Ho Ho Ho! Mike was also the first to take my daughter "hard water canoeing" to Scuttlebutt Lodge to go ice fishing...memories she remembers to this day and will always cherish.
What an amazing man and friend! Until we meet again my friend. Fish On!

Worked with Mike for many years at Canada Post...
Mikey was a firecracker... is the best way I can describe him! Always laughing and always ready to throw out a zinger!!! Can't tell you how many times he'd have me laughing so hard, I had to run to the bathroom before I wet myself! We kept in touch mostly online the last 4 or so years through Facebook, but even there, his humour and friendship were always a constant. Gonna miss you, Mikey!!!

We shared the same birthdate. We shared other times together, always fun and full of laughter. I will miss him. Love you and don’t forget to take my dad fishing.

my condolences to Mike’s family. I meet Mike at Buckhorn when he was 13. GREAT friend and super group friend; we all loved him and hung out at his mom and dads camp spot they were all so welcoming. moved to Winnipeg in 1982. after reading his obituary sounds like Mike never changed which is so awesome. I’m sure if any of you did not like putting worms on your hook he did it immediately laughing the whole time; unfortunately will not be able to meet you at his celebration but just know he will never be forgotten. As he rests in peace he is watching over you forever.

Dear Mike, Miranda and families
We just wanted to send our sincere condolences on the passing of your dad Mike.
We met Mike and your Grandparents Gord and Freida at Woodland Campsite back in the 1960’s.
We all hung out as teenagers for the summer at the campsite and they were some of the best summers of our teenage years.
Most winters your dad held a party at their home in Scarborough which kept our friendship alive. Your grandparents were always welcoming and we had the best time.
Sadly we lost touch with your dad as the last time we saw him we went to watch him drive ? Smash up derby at the track in Peterborough.
I send you all hugs but wanted you to know I think of Mike with fond memories and his memories bring me smiles.
I recently connected with another friend from the campsite after 45 years. She asked about your dad and if we heard any news of him.
Sheila ( Archibald) and Larry Gammon
