I am so sorry to hear of Jean-Anne's passing. I worked with Jean-Anne at the SPRC - her last job. When she left to go on sick leave, we were all sorry to see her go as she was always a happy presence in the office....and we LOVED her apple crisp she would produce from time to time. I also never realized, until after she left, what an amazing talent she was with Excel, as I got to witness her spread sheets she had created and was astonished at the complexity of them. I emailed back and forth with Jean-Anne and no matter how she was feeling -- which never came across in the emails, she always asked how I was doing personally and how everyone was in the office. I tried each time to tell her a story of something that had happened. I miss Jean-Anne now and will always miss her. Alison Miller

Paul and Helen Jones, on behalf of Emmanuel International, extend our condolences to the family of Jean-Anne. Jean-Anne worked with us in Malawi probably 18 years ago now. What a lovely young lady!!! We so much enjoyed working with Jean-Anne. Her quiet gentle heart was so evident in all her interactions. And it was a particular joy for us when Jean-Anne and her husband joined us at EI in Stouffville for several reunions. We are so sorry to hear of her passing and know that her absence leaves deep sorrow. May you, her husband and family, find rest in God's comfort and peace. May He hold you close and walk with you through this sorrow. Attached is a photo of Jean-Anne with others in her training school at EI before she came to Malawi.

I'm so glad that we got to do the canoe trip a few years ago Jean-Anne so that you could meet Sarah and I'm so thankful that you were able to come to our wedding last year! I know how challenging it was for you to make that trip over here last year and it meant so much to us: and thank you for helping Roy with his speech! :)
Somehow we both failed at getting Roy interested in Star Wars and I'm going to miss not being able to see some of those movies with you when I visit. Thank you for taking care of Roy. Much love to you and your family Roy and to Jean-Anne's family. Hugs to you all!

Dear Family,
I remember JeanAnne, my sweet niece from Canada. We first met when I came to Bolsover with my parents and brother, when I was about 12. We were met by 5 children who hung over the fence to greet us. And that little girl with red hair, that was JeanAnne. Because of the distance, we didn't see each other much. But when I was 23, Anton and I visited the family in Bolsover again. We received a warm welcome, stayed in the family house, attended a church service together, visited the locks, watched the Olympics together, ate Nasi and enjoyed Canada .... beautiful memories!
A few years later JeanAnne and her sisters came to the Netherlands to visit my parents and also me and Anton. It was so nice to get to know my cousins a bit better. We had a lot of fun together. JeanAnne was sweet, committed, calm and thoughtful with a great sense of humor.
Life flew us by. But suddenly, a few years ago, JeanAnne called. She was in the Netherlands with her husband Roy and visited us in Zeist. So nice to have met Roy then. A special couple, they loved each other very much, that was obvious. She talked about her travels and how much she loved her job.
In the years after we followed each other via Facebook. Suddenly there was the message that she was sick, it seemed so unreal. JeanAnne always remained optimistic, also realistic, thankful for everything she had, took strength from her faith and bravely battled her illness.
Until suddenly we received message from Kathleen that she had died. Her battle was over, how very, very sad. She touched our lives and we will miss her. From the Netherlands we send our deepest condolences to Roy, my nieces and nephews and in-laws. We are at a distance but are with you in our thoughts.

Roy, what a blessing it has been to get to know the two of you. We had a wonderful time at your place recently. The way you both faced this difficult situation, has been a real testimony of God's grace in action, in your lives. The road ahead will continue to have its challenges, but the same God who brought you this far, is forever by your side because of your Personal Relationship and faith in Him.
We will continue to pray for you!
A few verses;
Psalm 143:8 Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you.
Jeremiah 29:13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
Psalm 91:2 This I declare about the Lord. He alone is my refuge, my place of safety. He is my God and I trust Him.
Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.

Roy, we are very sorry for your loss, Jean-Anne was always happy and smiling. She would often affect others with her positive outlook and pleasant personality. I miss those family day weekends when you and Jean-Anne would visit and we'd go ice fishing and play games. I'm sure you will cherish all the great memories you had together. We are thinking of you and praying for you as you go through this difficult time.
Doug, Rhonda, and the Merkley kids.

Jean-Anne was our SPRC support person when we were expanding the breakfast and nutrition programs at St. Patrick in downtown Hamilton. She was a passionate supporter of making sure the most vulnerable children in our community were fed-but not just fed-that they learned to cook, learned to enjoy healthy food and never felt stigmatized receiving this support. With her support we were able to expand our program from feeding 15-20 students to feeding 70+ breakfasts and 250 healthy snacks each day. She has made a lasting impact on the lives of hundreds of children when they were most at risk!
