So many fun cheersquad memories packed in to a time far too short. My favorite memory will remain Sawyers daring escape attempt at the TiCat’s game we were cheering at. Even better that Colin got photographic evidence of it. We will wrap ourselves in the cheersquad blankets that you so generously made for our cold Santa Claus Parade and hold you tight in the months to come. I am so glad to have met your sweet girl

Sawyer has touched so many lives in a positive way! All that saw that smile were granted a little window into the personality and beautiful child that she was! Take comfort in the memories you share of your beautiful girl and know that she is off bike riding and running and watching over you all. She had the best family that loved her deeply and gave her a lifetime of experiences in too short a life She will be missed by all her met her! Hold onto each other ❤️

Having never met Sawyer I have no memories but I feel I know her through all the beautiful photos I have seen and all the lovely stories I have read. Colin and Karlee, you gave Sawyer the best life she could have and she was blessed to have you both in her life as you were also blessed to be her mummy and daddy. No words will ever be enough but you have a loving family who are there for you and remember you also have each other. Whenever I see a Ladybug I will always think of your little sweetheart Sawyer. Lots of love to you both and all the family, from Trudy and Jeff xx

My thoughts are with you Colin and Karlee. Sawyer was a beautiful girl with a fighting spirit. This is a horrible loss for your family and for all that knew your sweet girl. She has left a lasting impression and I will never forget the times I spent with her and with you - as her advocates and, most importantly, her loving parents. While this is a trying time for all, I hope there is comfort in remembering the wonderful memories you shared. Thinking of you all.

My first memory of Sawyer was meeting her at cheer which was at Ron Joyce Childrens Health Centre. At the time Sawyer and my little Rylie were the youngest ones there. Neither of them able to do much at all and us mom’s basically doing it all for them or just letting them take it all in. The music, voices, colours, sights and sounds would be a lot for them but this was a place where they could be who they were without fear of judgement and acceptance and understanding from all. I was so happy to find out that they were the same age. They had to be friends. How could they not. Two beautiful girls whose lives were going to be full of challenges. Both non verbal, both with unique issues who were supposed to bond for life because they weren’t going to be like all the others and in a world that’s not always so kind they were supposed to be able to lean on each other when Mom and Dad just wouldn’t do. Both being non verbal I imagined that they would just have this connection and communicate in their own way to each other because non verbal doesn’t mean non communicative. They would just know that each other were there and that they each understood. Our paths seemed to always cross at RJCHC. One going into a session while one was going out sometimes seeing each other mid session when one was in the room next door. We always said hi and had a quick conversation. For whatever reason they just became so important to me. There was just something about Karlee and Colin. The love and pride they had for Sawyer was evident to anyone and everyone that saw them. These are good people dealt a hard blow and doing everything in their power to give their daughter her best life. I still don’t know how you functioned on literally no sleep. I especially remember one day when we bumped into you and I said something to Sawyer and then Karlee said something and Sawyer just gave her “the look”. Every mom knows that look. You might not have known it from seeing her but if you really looked she had a big personality.
We share in your grief for a life too short, full of hardship but also full of love, excitement, new experiences, joy and determination. We are grieving the friendship for two little girls that should have been lifelong friends. We grieve the unjustness of a life taken from us all. We grieve for you living every parents worst nightmare. We are relieved that she is no longer suffering and is at peace. Please know that Sawyer touched our lives profoundly and that we will always remember her. Fly little one. Fly higher and faster than any other angel has before. Do somersaults and cartwheels and laugh and watch over your family and try to bring them some comfort knowing you live forever in their hearts.
Love Cindy, Andrew and Rylie

Fly high amongst the stars, little ladybug so sweet.
Your short time on this earth just doesn’t seem complete.
But when I look up in the sky, I know you're always there.
and I feel you in my heart, and I know you’re everywhere.
We love you little ladybug and know you fought so hard,
But now it’s time to rest, and fly amongst the stars.
We love you very much Sawyer <3
