I retired from Stelco Lake Erie Works in 2006. The retirement party was at The Erie Beach Hotel in Port Dover. All was well and good and then Andy showed up. That smile he had was so engaging, I knew the party was about to start. I know we had a really nice meal, we also had a few wee drams. I can't remember saying goodbye to Andy, or anybody, as the girls from the soccer team I coached had to drive me home.
I knew Andy for about twenty years, through the 80's and the 90's, due to the Paul Wurth Equipment at the Blast Furnace. He always sponsored me in the Blast Furnace Golf Tournament, where again, we would partake of a few wee drams.
He was great company, always quick to laugh, enjoyed a good joke, BUT, he was a Hibs Supporter, pity, and I was a Glasgow Rangers Supporter which led to many a good argument.
We drifted apart when I was posted to the Coke Ovens at Lake Erie Works, no Paul Wurth Equipment there.
I will always remember him as that big guy with that great smile and a great friend.

Andy will be greatly missed by myself and everyone worldwide that he worked with at Paul Wurth. He created so many great laughs and fond memories...some over a few pints :) Although he retired from Paul Wurth years ago, he never missed a chance to call and rib me about the Scotland vs. Croatia soccer games. :) I will always cherish the fun memories we had in our Canadian office and travelling through Europe together for work. My sincerest condolences to Jacquie and the family.

I worked with Andy at Stelco. He was so much fun. While we were still at Hilton Works where I was on the switchboard, I remember him changing the sign outside the cafeteria .... To something very funny!!!! I couldn't stop laughing at the thought of people reading thst on Monday. We were working on a weekend preparing for the move to Stelco Tower. He was very sweet and very funny. My sincere condolences to his family. Everyone loved Andy!

So sorry to hear of Andy’s passing. He was a great and fun loving guy. We had lots of great laughs through the years and I will remember him from our days at Stelco playing fastball. The post game festivities were as much fun as the game itself.
Thanks for the memories.
Sincere condolences to the family.

Andy was always a good friend with never a bad thought. I enjoyed playing rounds of golf with Andy and our other Scottish friends (Les & Jim). As sad a loss this is, it does bring back fond memories of time spent with Andy. My prayers and thoughts are with Andy's family and those close to him.

I knew Andy (AKA Bing) when we were both members of the RHLI Band and the Viscounts Drum Corps in the early sixties.
"An enormous sense of fun" rings true even in these earlier years. Andy was the only one of us with a car, and as a group of Drum Corps enthusiasts we would travel throughout Ontario and New York State to attend band competitions. We always had a great time.
I haven't crossed paths with Andy in many years, and it was nice to learn he had such a large family - something I am sure he relished. Good memories!

My sincere condolences to the family and to Andy's many close friends.
Andy and I both worked at Stelco and, for many years, together in the Stores Department . He was tremendously valuable in helping implement change there, his knowledge, work ethic, and ability to get along with everyone was inspiring. It was so much fun working together and sharing friendship.
Thanks Andy, I am grateful to have known you.

There are few people in life that you meet in your twenties and still consider them a close friend in your sixties. Andy was that kind of friend to everyone. He knew how to create a good time for all to enjoy. Andy made our work days fun and always found the humour in others and sometimes at their expense. Oh well, that was Andy. Andy had a full life, a life well lived. Rest In Peace our friend.

Such terrible news at this time of year, or at any time come to think of that. I'm just pleased that Andy was in my life as a friend and a work colleague and I have lasting memories of our football trips to the USA, our social gatherings and our golf games together.
Jacquie, Chris and I are so sorry for your loss.
