I have known Tom for about 65 years. I am a brother-in-law, but we were brothers in spirit. Attached is a picture of Tom with his little sister, Beverley, whom I married in 1957. Sadly she passed in 2016. They were very close. Tom and I remained in touch, enjoying our phone calls. He was bent over, studious, unique. He remained a bachelor all his life. We had great discussions on politics, church, doctrines, religions, other places. He was so fascinated at some of the places where we lived in Europe, the USA and western Canada. He loved his books. If I mentioned a book he did not have, he immediately was interested in obtaining it. Perhaps his greatest interest was Christian Service Brigade. I served with him many times at Camp Kakeka and other places. He was good as a waterfront director. He spent many years doing that every summer. I will miss him deeply. I know the family will as well. My condolences to his one remaining brother, and his nieces. May they know the peace that only God can give.

Tom was one-of-a-kind but such a hidden treasure. He was smart, funny, loved running, a big reader with a love of learning, and most of all a deep love for Father/Son/Spirit. I (Tom) enjoyed joking around with Tom, he had a great sense of humour, and Sue always enjoyed conversations with Tom in the WGC library. He will be missed by all those who knew him. I had the privilege of serving with Tom on a variety of committees at Winona Gospel Church. I always enjoyed conversations with him as he was very knowledgeable and loved Jesus! I am positive that he has had an eternal impact on so many lives and I am grateful for his input into my life. I always enjoyed his love for baseball and his preference to listen to a game on the radio rather than to watch on T.V. He was the only one I knew who would meticulously fill in the score sheet throughout a baseball game. He paid attention to detail for sure and this certainly contributed to his careful service in character and ministry. We'll miss Tom but look forward to seeing him again! May God bring comfort and peace to the family!
In Christ's love,
The Bryan's (John, Cindy, Riley, Dylan)

Tom was a good friend and teacher; it was a privilege to serve with him on many committees and boards at Winona Gospel over the years, and to sing beside him in the choir.
We recall one party given for him at the church, probably a birthday, and guests had been asked to bring something for Tom in the way of health food--some we all recognized and some a bit strange. Tom was sitting next to Pastor MacArthur when he opened a package of flax seed and, bewildered, said, "Flax seed? I wonder what I'm supposed to do with this." The pastor soothingly patted Tom's knee and said, "Just pour a little into a bowl in the morning and peck away it. You'll be singing like a canary before lunchtime."
His life touched many others with kindness, humour, and a thoughtful and generous faith. He will be much missed.

I worked at Kakeka for seven summers from 78 to 84 (starting when I was 15). Tom was a fixture there. He taught me canoeing - I was one fo the guys who made it through his Masters level. He told me once of a project he did in Bible college - he read through the Bible, using one word to describe each chapter. I have been working at that on and off for awhile.
I used to joke with him about wheat germ floats - he was into health food long before it became mainstream. I had a huge respect for him, his faith, his self-discipline.
I think we all have regrets of people we didn't keep in touch with from our younger days. While I had a several hour chat with him a few years ago, he would be one of those guys I wish I had known better and more often.
His death brings back the ache that is the loss of Kakeka (from fire and selling/moving on) from my childhood days. It was just a place, but God was always so much closer it seemed to me there. And the people are what made it that way. Tom was one of those steadfast and faithful guys that made Kakeka Kakeka.
I look forward to seeing him again someday when the roll is called up yonder.

Many memories of Tom from Winona Gospel Church. Tom had a wonderful sense of humour especially when sharing stories of his life and experiences. His greatest joy was sharing the stories of Jesus to many over the years and his knowledge of the scriptures created great excitement to those listening. We will miss all those wonderful conversations we had with him. Tom was a great leader and a great example to everyone. Our condolences to the Peake Family

Tom lived with us for several years. He loved his running each morning. Every winter he would find some course to further his love of education. The courses he took helped him in his job of doing income tax during tax season. Our daughter Heather was in kindergarten at the time and was asked for an example of rhyming words. Her first thought was "Tom Bomb". A little 2 year old we looked after loved calling him at lunch time..."Tom, your slunch is ready." Our son Brad loved his little orange Volkwagen Bug. We threw a surprise party for his 40th birthday after the Sunday night service. He finally got in after 10 p.m. but he was thrilled with the gifts which mostly consisted of running gear. He loved the time spent with his boys at Christian Service Brigade. Rest in peace...Good and faithful servant.
