Obituary of Cathy Heysel

Catharine Ann Heysel (nee Logan) age 60, of Stoney Creek passed away on January 23rd after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Cathy passed peacefully with her family at her side and a whole host of good souls awaiting her with open and loving arms on the other side.

Cathy was born on August 27th, 1960 to James (“Bunny”) and Cora Logan in Pembroke, Ontario and spent her youth in Stonecliffe and Chalk River, Ontario. After graduating from Mackenzie High School in Deep River, Cathy jumped right into the working world. 

Cathy started her career in finance working in the banking industry and at Atomic Energy of Canada. In 2001, Cathy found her passion and changed careers to become a full time mother, wife and cheerleader to Matthew, Kayla and Chris.  In 1987, she met her best friend Chris and they wed in 1996 going on to have their 2 amazing children, Matthew and Kayla.  Cathy spent her entire life giving to others; especially Matthew, Kayla and Chris. Driving the kids and team mates to sporting events, volunteering at the school and organizing all the special occasions for family and friends. Always a big smile to brighten your day and a warm and open heart to ease your pain, Cathy was a genuinely selfless soul who spent all of her time and energy on others.  Cathy was predeceased by her parents, James and Cora and by sisters Jean and Linda. She is survived by husband Chris, son Matthew, daughter Kayla, brothers Randy (Sharon), Bob (Sally), sisters Gail and Jill (Barry) and over two dozen loving nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Tuesday, January 26, 2012 from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.  A private family Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Parish.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, in accordance with the Bereavement Authority of Ontario facial mask/coverings are required.  Please visit the Funeral Home website to register your attendance for services due to limited space availability.  Visitors will only be accepted by scheduled appointment and will be asked to wait in their vehicle until their allotted time. Congregating on premises is prohibited.  Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.  Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
