Obituary of Ignac Prsa
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ignac Prsa on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at the Willowgrove Long Term Care Home in Ancaster in his 91st year. Ignac is predeceased by his wife Olga, sister Emma (Stefan) and brother Steven (Theresa). He will be sorrowly missed by his loving companion of 30 years, Milena Volcansek. Ignac is survived by this sisters Mary (late Karel), Theresa (late Frank), sons John and James (Allison).
Grampa Iggy was adored by his grandchildren Daniel, David, Natalie and Andrew as well as his great-granddaughter Ava. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews as well as Milena’s children and grandchildren.
Ignac was born in Slovenia on January 17, 1931 and arrived in Canada in the 50’s. He loved to tell stories of the Old Country and of his years at Dofasco where he proudly worked as a millwright for 30 years. He had tremendous work ethic, which he instilled in his family.
Ignac was a devoted member of St. Gregory the Great Parish where he often took up the collection. Iggy was a part of the team that built the iron fence around the church grounds. He also was very proud of the prayer station that he constructed for Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home at 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Wednesday, June 23rd from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Prayers will take place at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church at 125 Centennial Parkway North Stoney Creek on Thursday, June 24th at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 580 Old York Rd in Burlington. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, in accordance with the Bereavement Authority of Ontario facial mask/coverings are required. Please visit the funeral home website to register your attendance for services due to limited space availability. Visitors will only be accepted by scheduled appointment and will be asked to wait in their vehicle until their allotted time. If you have not registered you will not be admitted. Congregating on premises is prohibited.
